How Barcelona's annoyingly catchy club song may have cost Shakira her next number one

The Colombian singer knows the Nou Camp well through husband Gerard Pique, but there are downsides it seems

If you've watched a Barcelona game in recent years, then you'll be familiar with the club hymn, the Cant del Barca.
And if you're not, then just play the video below and realise that you do remember it after all.
It is the sort of tune that you find yourself humming for hours after as you try to work out where on earth it is from - and it's that earworm tendency that could have cost Shakira her next number one!

The Colombian songstress, who is married to Barcelona centre-back Gerard Pique, is one of the most successful artists on the planet. But not even she could avoid the deadly combo of the catchy hymn, an excitable child and a car journey.
"The last time I tried to write a new song I was in the car with [eldest son] Milan. A new tune came to me, but he was just singing the Barcelona hymn as loud as he could. I had to try and remember the melody for when I got home, but when I sat down in the studio that inspiration had completely gone," she told Argentine newspaper Clarín.

Such is life for a businesswoman worth an estimated quarter of a billion dollars - but she says she's happy enough for now just to have the family she's always wanted.
"Making music and bringing up my kids at the same time is a problem, but I won't complain. I always wanted to have a family, and now I just have to find time and balance."
